Righteousness

Righteousness

Righteousness-right standing with God.

Jesus carried our sin to enable us to have the righteousness of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

We receive his righteousness when we believe in Him.

Romans 10:13 “we believe and we are made righteous and confession is made unto salvation”.

Genesis 15:6 (niv) “Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.”

Proverbs 14:34 (KJ21)Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”

He covers us with a robe of righteousness and clothes us with garments of salvation.

Isaiah 61:10 (KJV) I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with

the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

He will reward us with a crown of righteousness.

2 Timothy 4:8 (KJV) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge,

shall give me on that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Why does the Lord give you righteousness as soon as you believe?

Even before receiving salvation, you receive righteousness.

The scepter of righteousness is a scepter of His Kingdom.

Hebrews 1:8-9 kjv) Hebrews 1:8-9

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Sceptre– rhabdos (greek) meaning rod, staff, staff of authority symbol of authority.

Our authority as God’s children comes from his righteousness.

Revelations 2:26-27 “overcomers shall rule with a rod of authority “.

Hebrews 1:9 ” Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Jesus loved righteousness and hated iniquity.

We also need to love righteous and hate iniquity.

2.Righteousness is for our protection. Ephesians 6:14.

Psalms 7:11 “God is a righteous judge….”.

Righteousness exalts a nation.

We should hate iniquity with a passion.

Iniquity- Avon (hebrew)– bending, twisting, distortion of God’s word.

There are certain things which God hates, which we need to hate as well.

Righteousness can elevate you from any situation, from the dunghill, to realms of glory.

Proverbs 14:34 (niv) “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people”

Proverbs 6:16-19 (NKJV)

16 These six things the Lord hates,

Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

17 proud look,

A lying tongue,

Hands that shed innocent blood,

18 A heart that devises wicked plans,

Feet that are swift in running to evil,

19 A false witness who speaks lies,

And one who sows discord among brethren.

Prayer:

1.Lord cloth me with your righteousness.

2 Lord give me a love for righteousness and hatred for iniquity.

3.Lord let me hate what you hate.
