How to receive Jesus Christ
What is Salvation?
Salvation is being delivered from sin and its consequences. Sin hinders us from having a true relationship with God. (Sin is an action, a desire which is in opposition to the eternal Word of God.
“And she shall bring forth a son and you shall call his name JESUS, for He shall SAVE His people from their sin.” (Matthew 1:21)
Jesus answered him and said to him, “verily, verily I say unto you, except a man be BORN AGAIN, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3)
Salvation was the reason for the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ which leads to the forgiveness of sin and gives one who believes the assurance of eternal life.
How to receive Jesus Christ
- THE SITUATION
All man have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. (Romans 3: 9-12, Romans 3:23), The price/wages/consequences of sin is death (Romans 6:23)
- GOD LOVES YOU
God gave His only Son JESUS CHRIST The ONLY WAY, to be saved and freed from these things (Acts 4:12, 1 John 3:8, John 14:6). Salvation was initiated by God, and was wrought by God.
- STEPS TO TAKE
We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Christ by calling on His name. (Romans 10:9-10). When you believe in Jesus Christ and what He did for you when he suffered and died on the cross and you decide to repent/turn away from your sins and receive the risen Jesus you receive eternal life. ( 2 Corinthians 7:10 , Isaiah 55:6-7) Repentance is necessary.
- GUARANTEE OF SALVATION
You are assured of your salvation by FAITH and faith alone i.e believing God’s promise (Ephesians 2:8–9, 1 John 5:11-13, John 6:37, Titus 1:2). Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord and puts his trust in Jesus Christ receives the promise of eternal life. (Romans 10:13)
Prayer to receive Jesus Christ
Lord Jesus I acknowledge that I am a sinner, I believe you bled and died for my sins, I repent of all my sins, I ask you Lord to forgive me, cleanse me with your precious blood, come into my heart and be the Lord and Saviour of my life, rule and reign in my heart now and forever. Write my name in the lamb’s book of life. From today I choose to follow you, I renounce all evil covenants in my life, I am now a child of God. Lord fill me Lord with your Holy Spirit and let him help me to live a life that pleases you . Thank you Lord for saving me. Amen
